For u To Train a Dog

About Me

My Story & Why the Walk and Talk Program is Different

My puppy training sessions are simple, kind, and effective. They’re not about nagging or giving endless commands instead, they’re about connection. I teach puppies why it’s worth listening when we ask something of them, using scientifically proven, reward-based methods. It’s about trust, consistency, and mutual understanding not control.

The idea for my Walk and Talk sessions started with a moment in the park. I saw an elderly gentleman sitting on a bench, struggling to call his young, energetic dog back after it had chased a ball. I introduced myself and asked if I could help with recall. Thinking on my feet, I used a few simple techniques and soon enough, the dog came bounding back to the bench for a treat. The gentleman smiled with relief. That moment stuck with me.

I know the joy and companionship dogs bring into our lives. They reduce loneliness, improve our mental well-being, and give us purpose. But I also understand that life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes our energy, physical health, or emotional well-being can make it difficult to attend formal training classes or follow rigid programs.

As a mental health nurse and certified dog trainer, I’ve met many people who adore their dogs but simply can’t attend group sessions. I wanted to create something different; training that meets people where they are, both physically and emotionally.

The Walk and Talk program was designed with this in mind. We walk together, at your pace, in your local park, garden, or wherever feels safe. We talk. We train. And we adapt everything to suit you and your dog’s real life. Whether you’re a busy parent, an older adult, someone living with anxiety, or recovering from illness, this isn’t just dog training. It’s support for you, too.

Because every puppy deserves a chance to learn gently, and every owner deserves to feel confident, supported, and understood.

Why I Created the Walk and Talk Program

Puppy training doesn’t have to mean commands, stress, or pressure. My sessions are gentle and practical, focused on helping your puppy want to listen because they trust you, and they understand what’s being asked.

But we don’t all have the same ability to attend rigid classes or follow standard programs.

I’ve met many people who want to train their puppies but are held back by physical or emotional challenges. That’s why I designed a training experience that’s just as supportive for people as it is for dogs.

With Walk and Talk, we work together in a safe outdoor space, at your pace, with no pressure. We walk. We talk. We train.

Whether you’re a first-time puppy owner, feeling anxious, or simply prefer a personal touch, this is training that fits around your life.
